Twitter “Fleets” Are Coming. What You Need to Know

One of the last major social platforms to join the Stories club, Twitter announced their latest feature, Fleets.

Fleets will allow Twitter users to post text, photos, and videos that will disappear after 24 hours. Like Snapchat, Facebook, and Instagram Stories, when a Fleet is shared, it will appear at the top of the Twitter feed, as you see in the image above.

Twitter’s goal for Fleets is to take away the pressure from users who feel uneasy about sharing their thoughts publicly. By removing retweets/likes and permanency, Twitter hopes those who are uncomfortable tweeting use Fleets to share what’s on their minds.

You won’t notice any Fleets popping up right now, as Twitter is starting to test the feature out in Brazil. We’ll keep you updated on any launch dates for the United States.

What are your thoughts on Twitter’s latest feature? Let us know in the comments below.
