Jolokia Release on Design World

In keeping with our web release versions inline with chili peppers, the ever burning Jolokia release has been unleashed. I started in alpha sequence, but a little more thought, I should have gone by scoville scale in peppers as we have developed Design World. Being that the Jolokia Pepper is the worlds hottest pepper, this by no mean implies we are done with development. And with most things, especially botanical, someone will develop a hotter hybrid anyway.

The Jolokia release represents more under the hood changes than visible public facing changes, but the most noticeable is the main navigation and above. We went with a much cleaner look and thing the blue makes the top nav pop better. Some ordering of menus has changed, and the RSS link has now been relagated to the bottom footer links. We used Crazy Egg and ChartBeat and Google Analytics to help drive the subtle changes. These tool allow great feedback for seeing usage patterns and basically whats being hit and whats not.

Video now sports a pull down with the main channels from Engineering Watch HD – our video site, and Articles are broken out along with links to Windpower Engineering and Solar Power Engineering specifically.

Development continues: give the Jolokia a try.
