The Advantage of Inside Influencers

When you think of influencers, you often think big picture, more well-known celebrities like Ed Sheeran or Taylor Swift. However, because of TikTok, Youtube, and fantastic storytelling everyday people have broken this cycle and have become influencers themselves.

First, let’s define an influencer; as a person with the ability to influence potential buyers of a product or service by promoting, recommending, or educating their audience about an item. Influencers can be categorized based on their following, content, or niche.

What if your company has inside influencers?

An inside influencer starts with your CEO or president, sales staff, and in the case of WTWH Media, our editors. These inside influencers have relationships with your target audience and may be able to connect with them more personally than through your brand. For example, when promoting an event, the brand will have a more general post highlighting the event where your co-workers may be able to have a different perspective and more personal approach. They can also post in real-time at the event, creating more excitement, engagement, and connections.

Thanks to LinkedIn’s new resharing feature, it is easier for your followers to share your content directly with their connections. If your internal influencers decide to share content from your brand personally, they will usually have a higher reach, engagement, and more interactions with the post.

Your key audience(s) will already have authentic connections with your internal influencers rooted in human connection and emotion. On LinkedIn, many professionals follow influencers looking for entertainment, inspiration, education, and leading industry news. Whether your team considers themselves influencers or not, there is a HUGE opportunity for them to convey your company values, mission, and goals to the industry or community with which they interact every day.

Therefore, I challenge you to brainstorm who your internal influencers are and speak to them about how they can help create awareness, connect with your target audience, and ultimately help bring more revenue to your business and loyal customers.
