Social Media Usage on the Rise In the Workplace (Infographic)

social media revolutionSocial media use is on the rise in the workplace, a study says, and it doesn’t look as if it’s going away anytime soon.

Garnter Technology Research recently conducted a study of 1,100 people about the use of social media within their workplace, and the results might surprise you.

One of the more interesting facts, in my opinion, is that only two years ago, one-half of all companies blocked social media sites from their employees, and that number is expected to decrease by 10 percent each year.

Conversely, 43 percent of companies have no social networking site restrictions whatsoever.

Another interesting statistic is that Twitter tops Facebook as the most-used social media platform in the workplace. The other side of that coin, which is as equally astonishing, is that a whopping 69 percent of poeple use Twitter at work.

Do you believe that utilizing social media at work is a good use of company time? If you do, you’re not alone; 45 percent of those surveyed stated that they agree that social media can help with work productivity.

Overall, the takeaway from this study (and infographic below) is that whether you like it or not, social media is currently on the process of weaving itself into your everyday life at work. If you or your company hasn’t begun to utilize it, you’re missing the boat.

Social media is no longer a fad, it’s a REVOLUTION.
