The first #Socialin60 has arrived! For this series I cover the latest changes in social media including Vine, Pinterest and Facebook.

Image recognition is one of my biggest pet peeves with Pinterest, the website that allows users to collect photos of their favorite recipes, home décor and exercises, just to name a few. When I search for, let’s say, “Ab exercises,” I get not only work outs for my abs, but smoothies and food show up in the results. With Pinterest’s latest acquisition of VisualGraph, Pinterest will be able to better recognize images – even without “keyword” help from users.

Moving on to Vine. You can finally view your six-second videos on the Web with Vine’s recently introduced Web profiles. Now you can access your Vine account online through your own web page. The company also introduced “TV Mode,” which allows users to see videos in full screen and scroll from one video to the next. This feature is great for brands who want to tell a story a bit longer than six seconds.

Lastly, Facebook has yet, another change. Facebook will end sponsored stories on April 9. These ads show how your Facebook friends interact with a sponsored page, app or event. While the sponsored stories ads may disappear, the idea behind them won’t. Stories about social actions your friends have taken, such as liking a page or attending an event, may appear next to all ads shown to friends on Facebook.
