YouTube Best Practices
-Make a good first impression: Start the video off right with a well-written title and a good thumbnail. Don’t forget to add additional materials such as logos, text, photos, or other videos. Once you have the video uploaded be sure to share it on other social channels.
-It’s all about the content: Provide content that teaches, entertains or inspires while being visually interesting. There are 3 types of content; Hero, Hub and Hygiene.
- Hero: Hero videos are large-scale events or programs that drive mass awareness. Examples include product launches and seasonal campaigns.
- Hub: Hub videos are meant to entertain and keep an audience coming back. Regularly scheduled “push” content around customer passions. Examples include original series, success stories, passions and interests.
- Hygiene: Hygiene videos are created around the core interests relevant to the ideal viewer or target consumer. Examples: How-tos, demos & customer service.
-Be Relevant: Make sure videos are appropriate for what your channel is trying to say or show. Individual videos should be relevant to a specific message. Also consider what behavior you want the viewer to do after watching the video. Don’t forget to include a call to action at the end of your video.
-Optimize! YouTube isn’t just about the video content; it is the second largest search engine so it is important to optimize. Make sure titles and descriptions are well written with SEO in mind. Also, add the relevant tags.
